The Last Ark

The planet that temporarily sustains us will end long before its sun self-destructs. Who then will write the planet's obituary? Whereas most have distaste for drafting their own obituaries, very few individuals have the breadth of knowledge and writing skills to propose the design, launch and navigation of a capsule capable of propagating the human species upon death throes of mother-ship Earth.
Collectively there are minds eager to collaborate on such Last Ark literary project. Astronomers, doctors, engineers, physicists, etc. would contribute articles on the advances in space medicine and in materials, guidance and propulsion technologies. Their signed essays would build on the evolving story, and after viritual launch they would be part of the crew reporting back on the greatest adventure.
Science fiction, yes, but crafted by brilliant scientific minds.
John Brockman, the founder and editor of Edge (a website devoted to cutting-edge science) has the forum for attempting such an undertaking.
